Work it UP to provide Project Management guidance

for The University of Southern Maine's

CAMPUS  VENTURES  PROGRAM

Campus Ventures is a grant-funded commercialization accelerator program for Maine startup companies and university technology transfer/spin-off projects. The program was designed to help entrepreneurs and university faculty members advance technology-intensive projects and provide rich experiential learning opportunities for students.  While doing both of these, the program satisfies the overarching goal of supporting innovation, economic development, and jobs creation in Maine. USM has partnered with the Maine Center for Enterprise Development (MCED) to create a dual track technology- and business-development program to accelerate commercialization activity for both startups and faculty spin-off projects. Campus Ventures is funded through an Maine Economic Improvement Fund (MEIF) grant.

AWARDS:

In support of the program's stated goals, the Campus Ventures commercialization program will:
•    Sponsor up to four (4) Maine-based entrepreneurs or early stage businesses per fiscal year for participation in MCED's business incubator services, funding permitting.  The program will subsidize the cost of MCED's professional services fees for each program participant. Participation in MCED's incubator program may include office and administrative support, provided at the discretion of the MCED.
•    Assign project management oversight with industry professionals and provide logistical support in the form of laboratory access, meeting space, and administrative support to the direct benefit of the project.
•    Provide access to University of Maine System faculty researchers and student interns in direct support of technical project development.
